Mother's Day

Througout the day, I was depriving myself from eating a lot because I knew that by dinner time, I'd pig out. Haha.

Last night, I made a reservation at the Makahiki Restaurant of Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa to celebrate Mother's day. Honestly, I wasn't keen on going there because we've already tried it last year during Father's and personally, wasn't impressed. I was gonna ask my Concierge friends at the hotel where I'm working, but I guess I never had to chance to. Hehe. So my only option was the aforementioned restaurant because going all the way to Waikiki wasn't really my option.

Luckily, the restaurant had seats left so I went ahead and made the rsvp for a party of 4 at 5:15 p.m. (there was a little traffic getting into the hotel so we were a bit late, but we still got our seats)

The Aulani Hotel is beautiful! It is upscale but Hawaiiana touch is very prevalent which makes the property unique from its contemporaries. The restuarant is located below the main lobby. To my knowledge, there is no elevator so you'll have to take the wooden staircase. You can opt to dine indoors, or feel the breezy air outside.

Makahiki offers buffet "island" style cuisine. Surprisingly, I enjoyed everything I consumed. I didn't pig out as much as I had imagined, but I was full and satisfied. I still think the price I paid for (yes, I paid for it. hehe) is a little higher than it should, but in all fairness, ingredients used were fresh and service was wonderful (shouldn't these be a given already though? hehe).
I don't usually drink teas, but after my two rounds, I had to order a cup to relax my stomach. I opened a sachet of chamomile tea and it was heaven! I think I'll be drinking more :-)
I think I made my mum happy. Happy Mother's day! :-)
