San Francisco Day 2

Hello, Black Friday!

Good deals were just everywhere! However, truthfully, I didn't have any intentions of getting anything because the 8% sales tax was making me cringe. Ha! Plus I only brought one tiny carry-on with me. So space in my luggage would be limited. This was my excuse! But I was open nonetheless to anything that allured my eyes. Hahahaha.

First stop was at Barney's. I love Barney's! It's my favorite department store in the world! Their selection of merchandise aligns with my style philosophy. Anyway, everything was pretty much discounted to 40% off. Yay! But most of the things that I liked were either still too expensive or didn't fit me. I saw a pair of Balenciaga shoes that would be nice for black tie galas but let's get real, I don't have a fancy life. Haha
I didn't get any clothing or accessories, but I did manage to get myself a bottle of a  Le Labo perfume! Whenever I travel, I try to get a scent that will always remind me of that time. And this was it. The scent is called Bergamot 22 and it smells divine! Similar to my Ambrette 9 which is one of my most prized perfumes in the world! What I love about Le Labo is that they're not (yet) very common. I don't like commercial perfumes because I'm a snob like that. Kidding! Anyway, each fragrance is hand poured in its bottle upon purchase which ensures freshness. Your name will also be inscribed which I think is a very nice personal touch and one of a kind (this means it can't be returned, so you better be in love with the scent you choose otherwise it's a $180 regret. haha!)

After Barneys, I stopped by Gump's. I love Gump's too! If you like the finer things in life, this is the place for you! I thought everything was cute however it'd be practical if I bought anything here. Gump's sells fine adornments, stationaries, furnitures, and even toys.
Again, I didn't buy anything. I was satisfied feasting my eyes with these! :D

Third stop was at Margiela along Maiden Lane. I'm not the biggest Margiela fan because his designs are too avante garde for me. But they are known for having comfortable shoes. I have a sickness when it comes to shoes so when the sales associate or should I say clientele specialist (so fancy!) mentioned that they had a bunch that were 40% off, I couldn't help myself.
Honestly, I didn't have any plans of getting anything at all! I was already satisfied with the fragance I had purchased prior. But when I tried on these, I felt like I was walking on clouds! They are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn in my life. And I'm not exaggerating. I have a confession to make: most of the time, when I see a pair of shoes that I really like and they're heavily marked down (hello Saint Laurent deck shoes!), even though they don't really fit me comfortably, I still buy them because my exuse is that they will eventually mold to my feet after a wearing them a few times. But ah, gone are the days of enduring blisters. Haha. The shoes below are so comfortable that I could probably run in them (I won't do that of course!). This was the biggest purchase for this trip. Yes, it was 40% but it was still quite  expensive. Huhu. But no regrets because I'm very happy with them. Plus, the service there was just wonderful! I do want to share however that I chose to have them shipped home to save myself from paying tax! There was $15 2-day FedEx shipping but hey, it's better than the $40 tax!
Other stores I visited were Saks, Neiman Marcus, Goyard and Valentino. They had a lot of offerings for Black Friday (except Goyard) too, but then again, everything was still too expensive and I was honestly not in the mood to shop for more things!
I had been roaming the streets of Union Square and Maiden Lane for hours that I forgot to eat lunch. At around 2, I was craving for something satisfying. I wanted to go to the Rotunda. But it was really busy. So I just snapped photo because I thought it looked nice. Hehe. Anyway, everything else was pretty busy. So I decided to just go at the St. Regis.
It was already quite late for lunch so they didn't really have a good selection. I was offered their bar menu and I was like meh. But it was either that or nothing. I ordered a fancy schmancy burger. It was actually pretty good. But service at the lounge bar was mediocre. I didn't feel the 5-star service at all considering I was paying premium for a freakin burger.
Despite the lack of good service at the lounge bar, I still love the St. Regis in San Francisco. It's modern and exudes true luxury. The Palace Hotel is also a luxury property, but the vibe is very old world. St. Regis is more me. HAHA. After my quick lunch, I headed to the Front Office and chatted with the staff there. Great people btw. I expressed my intention of staying in the property the next time I visit the city and next thing I know, I was checking out a few of their rooms. This was one of their entry level suite. The nightly rate must be ungodly during peak season, but check out the view!
Because I was already in the SoMa area, I decided to explore a bit. Such a chill neighborhood.
I headed back to my hotel after to have some rest. After a few hours of napping, I took the bus (using my Clipper!) to Pier 39 to play tourist. First stop was at this eatery where I had clam chowder in a bread bowl. Very synonymous with San Francisco huh? It didn't taste anything extraordinary. But whatever. I was glad to have experience it. haha
Pier 39 was full of tourists. It was fun to be among them. But I didn't stay long. I went back to Union Square before stores closed to do some last minute shopping for Nanang. Bought her a Cle De Peau lipstick at Barneys, and before heading ultimately to the hotel, I made a quick stop at Zara. Gueued for 30 minutes just to get a pair of trousers. Haha. What an experiece.
After window shopping all day and my little trip to Pierre 39, I finally went back to my room to do some more deep pondering and reflecting. Haha. How dramatic! But hey, it was Thanksgiving! For some odd reason though, at around 1am, I got really hungry. Had no choice but to order room service. Ahh, I hate room service because they are ungodly expensive! But oh well. It was my first time to order room service! Was it worth it? Maybe not. I just had eggs and bacon. And that was almost $35 (including service, delivery and grauity charge). Horrific for my cheap ears! Haha
This sums up my day 2 in San Francisco!
