October 7
I woke up at around 9am upon hearing the ring of my phone. It was Terry, asking if I'd be going to the piknik. I told her that I could not, and made up an alibi. Haha. I attempted to go back to sleep but couldn't do so. After a few moments, Matet texted asking if I had plans for the day. I replied I didn't have anything in particular. However, I thought going to the Kahala mall would be a good idea. We perused the aisles of Whole Foods, but nothing caught my eyes. We entered several more stores until I received another call from Terry, persuading me to go to the piknik even though it was already past noon. I even thought it was already finished. But I thought, why not. After all, I've been attending the said get together for the past seven years every semester. Despite the close proximity of Kahala and Ala Moana, it took a while for me to get to the venue due to heavy traffic - on a weekend (which is odd). When I finally got to the site, everyone was getting ready to leave. Haha. LATE ENTRANCE ANG DRAMA!. But even so, it was nice to see Nik again, who now teaches a FIL class part-time. Vowed to catch up with him more now that we're working at UH.
I think I was only at the piknik for 20 minutes or so. Terry and I headed to the mall to use the bathroom. She asked me if I wanted to go the library to study but I did not feel like studying today. Haha. We parted ways after. I texted Matet to meet me at Mariposa since I was already at the mall anyway. Mariposa has got to be one of my favorite restaurants in Honolulu. It's simple and refined. However, for the first time, I was disappointed with my order which was their version of loco moco. It apparently had truffles, too but the beef was so dry!
After a rather late lunch, we headed home. Rain started to pour heavily. Ah, the rain. There's something calming about the rain. On the way home, we made a short stop at Barneys. I love Barneys! I thought I needed a small retail therapy as I've been working really hard in school. Hehe. Nothing particularly "cute" caught my eyes. Yes, I'm really picky because it's hard to part with my money nowadays. Before walking out, however, I saw a Thom Browne spectacles. I thought to myself, I don't need it! But the style flatters me. I ultimately bought it, and I'm happy about it. I have not shopped in a while! And I deserve it. Though, I'm going have to be easy on shopping. Remember, I don't have a full-time job! I'm happy with my little purchase nonetheless.
